After spending seven successful seasons at Italian super club Juventus, Leonardo Bonucci made the switch to the Old Lady’s Serie A rivals AC Milan in the summer. However it seems that the central defender has got a taste for new challenges, as reports this week have suggested that the Italian international could be set for a shock move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
According to Football Espana, Bonucci is the first name on Zinedine Zidane’s shopping list as he looks to rebuild Los Blancos for next season. The Madrid club are currently sitting third in La Liga table, 10 points behind their eternal rivals Barcelona.
Somewhat perplexingly Real have the third best defensive record in the Spanish league, which makes one wonder why Bonucci, a centre half, is so high on their shopping list. \
Many believe that Zidane should instead be focussing on replacing their ageing forwards, and perhaps addressing the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema have combined for just two league goals this season.
Bonucci meanwhile is without doubt one of the most talented central defenders in world football, but his AC Milan side find themselves down in seventh place in the Serie A table after 13 games with a less than inspiring defensive record.
